Kara took a deep breath and then started telling the story, "It was an early flight. Before dawn and we were meant to be home before sunlight. Kreagar was with me. We started low, just patrolling and then we got told that we had been activated to a mission and had to drop bombs. I wasn't to keen on it at night, we wouldn't know who was down there. But anyway, we completed our task, knowing what we had to do." She said very softly, stroking his hand gently, "Coming back through the mountains we saw two jets coming towards us and we had to engage. It wasn't long until it was two of us and four of them. Meg managed to take one out...but one caught me close and the shell came into my cockpit and bumped me around a fair bit. I thought my nose was broken. I had to declare my jet wasn't safe and had to make an emergency divert. I went through the mountains while Kreagar stayed with the dog fight. That's when I took a SAM and went down." She said softly and stopped, biting her lip slightly.

Ryan grinned and opened the door for her.

Ben listened silently, squeezing her hand gently as he let her continue in her own time.

Kara bit her lip, "I couldn't eject even if I wanted to. I just remember praying, Ben. And saying sorry. I don't remember much after the crash. At one point I wanted to let go. But every time I thought that I thought of you and knew I couldn't. Not then. Not like that. I fought on for you so much and I remember day coming and then night again. I started to drift in and out of consciousness. Had illusions and stuff. I finally saw my rescuers come. And as they came to get me I finally passed out again. I died, Ben. Right then I stopped breathing. Or so I'm told. They got me out and performed CPR to get me back. In those few moments I only thought of you. You kept me alive, Ben." She whispered, tears drifting down her face.

Ryan grinned and got in, starting the drive.

Ben reached up and wiped her tears gently, resting his forehead against hers, "I love you so much Kara." He whispered softly.

Roxy giggled and shifted, resting her head on his arm lightly.
