Dec smiled softly, tilting his head slightly.

Kara pouted playfully.

Grace closed her eyes and let her thoughts drift as one hand drifted to her stomach.

Josh shook his head, "He's got an appointment today."

Ben smiled and took her hand as his doctor stepped into the doorway. He glanced up then took a deep breath and stood up, following the doctor into his office, keeping a hold of Kara's hand.

Dec shifted to look at her then put a hand on hers gently, "we'll be a family one day." He said softly.

April nodded slightly and bit her lip, glancing at the ground.

Kara squeezed his hand gently as she walked beside him.

Grace nodded, "I know." She said softly and kissed his cheek.

Josh bit his lip slightly, "We're down three, maybe four pilots at the moment."

Ben squeezed her hand gently and sat down as the doctor walked over to the board and flicked it on. Ben looked straight ahead, knowing the image of his brain was now on the board, he hadn't looked yet and had no intention of starting to today.

Dec smiled and kissed her forehead.

"What are they going to do? We can't be missing so many pilots and expect to still run."

Kara bit her lip and sat in the seat, stilling holding Ben's hand.

Josh sighed, "We'll be pulling some more pilots off the carrier probably."

"I won't keep you long because I know how much you hate being here," the doctor said as he sat down. "We've had a look at the results and we're fairly certain what we're dealing with here."
"So how long have I got?" Ben asked bitterly, half forgetting Kara was there.

Dec held her, closing his eyes again.

"Great," April complained and rubbed her forehead.

Kara had already started blinking back tears, not wanting to cry in front of the doctor but Ben's comment had been a kick in the gut.

Grace smiled softly.

Josh sighed, "It's not ideal. But with you and Meg on maternity leave. Ben's sick and I dont know if Kara is going to be able to keep up with it all."

The doctor shook his head, "soon if you keep that attitude up." He said and wrote a few things down as he spoke, "we need to get a sample, soon. It's done it's damage but we may be able to do surgery to remove the tumor."
"I still can't fly anymore, what's the worst it can do?"
The doctor put his pen down, folding his arms, "Benjamin, quit it." He said as he looked at Ben, "I've been your doctor for years now, I came out here to help you. Will you stop treating this like the end of the world? If you let us, we can help you before it's too late."
"It's already too damn late," Ben snapped before he could stop himself.

"If I was Kara, I wouldn't be fit to fly," April sighed softly.

Kara had to look away as tears fell down her face.

Josh nodded, "She may find it a release though. But we cant risk it."

The doctor sighed softly, "I'm going to book you in for an appointment, we're going to see what's going on in the brain. If we're right, we can remove it and go from there."
Ben stared off in front of him, his arms now folded across his chest.
"Do you have any questions?" The doctor asked, glancing between the two of them.

Kara just bit her lip as she tried to stop the tears.

Grace glanced at the time, "Can we do it this evening?" She asked, by tomorrow she was back with the unit. And combat ready.

Josh kissed April's forehead gently.

Ben shook his head and looked off ahead before standing up, "thanks." He mumbled and walked out the office.

Dec nodded slightly, "sure." He smiled and kissed her forehead.

April sighed and closed her eyes, "I can't even imagine what poor Kara's going through."

Kara watched him for a moment then looked back at the doctor, "I dont know how to help him." She said softly, as if stick in her seat.

Josh nodded, "She's meant to be flying tonight."

The doctor smiled sadly, "I don't think you can." He said softly, "Ben never has been the average patient. You just have to be there for him, let him come to you when he's ready."

Dec shifted and smiled, "do you want to go for a walk? Get some fresh air."

April shook her head, "she'd be mad to go up there with everything going on."
