"Everything alright?" April asked, watching her.

Meg sighed, "Yeah. The big boss in Canberra is threatening to cut the Lightning project if it continues to fall behind the Fortress programme." She said, speaking of Josh's navy bomber project he was head of. "I really need to get the jet up in the air today and to get some final tests done before weapon launching next week."

"I can always find ways to distract Josh so you can catch up," April said lightly and glanced out the window. "The weather isn't the best to be testing in, Meg."

Meg smiled, "It was supposed to be high flying today. If I can just get above the clouds quickly, then maybe I could get some stuff done." She said, glancing outside as another clap of thunder roared. "Take off and landing would be tricky, but I've done it on an aircraft carrier and we've got a 1 mile runway here." She said, more talking to herself.

April watched her, biting her lip, "you know if dad was here, he'd kill you for even thinking about trying it."

Meg smiled, "Maybe it's a good thing he's sick then." She said lightly, reading the meterology report about the upper sky wind direction and weather.

Meg smiled and walked down the hall to find Charlie to request permission to launch. She glanced around, wondering if Rhiann was on base.

April walked into the rec room and glanced over at Rhiann, "I thought you weren't in today?" "Gets boring at home alone," Rhiann said lightly and looked up then ahead.

Meg finished talking to Charlie, proving that she could launch the lightning under normal take off. The Lightning did have vertical take off, much like a helicopter but would be too risky in the storm. She would be launching in an hour if the storm got no worse. She grinned and skipped back down in the rec room with her mission book.

Rhiann glanced up then tilted her head, "what you grinning about?" She asked lightly.

Meg continued to grin, "Got cleared to launch." She said lightly.

Rhiann groaned lightly. "I think she's braver than any of us put together," April said lightly.
