Roxy blinked, "Kara? What's wrong?"

Dec shook his head, "I can't." He said, "Grace doesn't want me a quivering mess, not when she's going through this."

"I have a brain tumor," Ben said simply.
Alex blinked a few times, sitting down, "did I just hear you right?"
Ben nodded slowly.

Kara bit her lip and rubbed her forehead, "Ben's sick, Roxy. He's ....r...really sick."

Alek offered a small smile, "Talk to me then, Dec." He said, "You have to let it out."

Charlie leaned back in his chair and stared blancly, unsure what to say.

Roxy blinked, "sick?" She asked, "Kara, what? Ben never gets sick."

Dec smiled lightly and walked over, sitting down on the sofa, "it's not the same for me." He said, "I wasn't carrying a child.. I didn't have much feelings towards it at the time."

Alex sighed and rubbed the back of his neck, "how serious is it?"
"I don't know," Ben admitted. "I have an appointment soon to tell me all this kinda stuff."

Kara blinked back tears, "He's got a brain tumor." She said and her body threatened to start sobbing again.

Alek nodded, "It still hurts."

Charlie nodded and sighed softly, "I'm really sorry, Ben."

Roxy blinked and hugged her friend silently, wanting to ask so many questions but she didn't want to upset her further.

Dec nodded, "I hadn't quite gotten used to the fact we were going to have a baby.. Now that's gone."

Ben shrugged helplessly and smiled slightly.

Kara sobbed into Roxy's shoulder. She suddenly hated the navy for taking her away for so long. Taking her away from him when they could have had so much more. She could be loosing her husband, not her fiance.

Alek nodded, "The time will come." He said with a small smile.

Charlie bit his lip slightly, "Do you think we should give Kara some leave too?" He asked softly, not wanting to upset Ben, but also the questions needed to be asked. If she wasnt 100% in the air, she could kill herself or anyone around her. But being down two pilots, especially lieutenants would be hard.

Roxy rubbed her friend's shoulder gently, closing her eyes. "He's going to be alright," she said softly. "He's too stubborn and strong to let it beat him."

Dec nodded slightly, "I hope so."

Ben shook his head, "as much as I love her, I don't want her there every two minutes looking at me like I'm going to drop any minute." He admitted, "if she's still capable of doing her job, I'd prefer she did so."
"If she proves too much of a risk, she'll need to be grounded," Alex pointed out softly.

"I cant loose him, Roxy. I cant." She said through her tears.

Alek nodded, "I've gotta head into work, Dec. Maybe we could go out for a few drinks some time. Grace can go stay with Emily if you'd prefer she not be alone."

Charlie nodded, "Alex is right. We cant have her making mistakes."

Roxy shook her head, "you won't, Kara." She said softly.

"Do you think she can continue to fly safely?"
"No," Ben admitted. "But I can't fly again.. You're down with April still off on maternity.. Now Kara."

Kara's cries softened long enough to take a few breaths.

Alek smiled and put a hand on his shoulder briefly before stepping outside and driving to work.

Charlie glanced at Alex, "Meg with maternity leave too. That's all the figher's gone."

Dec watched him then closed his eyes, sighing softly.

Alex nodded and sighed, "damn." He complained, "we'll just have to see if we can bring some in."

Kara gave a shakey sigh, "I love him so much, Roxy. And he's already giving up."

Alek arrived at work to see Grace and Ryan talking. Ryan nodded and smiled softly. After their conversation Alek walked up to him, "Everything okay?" He asked.
Grace jumped slightly and nodded, knowing Emily would have filled him in, "I'm back on the team."

Charlie nodded and wrote something down. "Okay, Ben." He started softly, "We'll soon mail you the papers you'll need to see for a medical discharge. Are you seeing a military doctor?"

"It's gonna be a huge shock to him, give him time to process this." Roxy said softly.

"I don't see the point," Ben admitted. "Not like I can stay in the military anyway."

Kara sniffled and glanced at the time, "He's got his appointment soon. I should change into something a bit more respectable."

Charlie just nodded, "I'm sorry, Ben." He said, "But you need to focus on getting better now."
